Canadian Vocabulary
Lesson One.
Tuque - pronounced two-k.
Wikipedia says:
A tuque is a knitted cap. Most tuques are tapered, some have ear-flaps, and may be topped with a pom-pon, this style of tuque is sometimes referred to as a sherpa. The term originated in Canada.The 2009 Winter Tuque!

Peek-a-BOO!!!
So here's our usual morning routine:
Todd's alarm goes off at 6:15 and he hits snooze 2-3 times (thank goodness I don't hear it - I hate the "snooze" button....don't get me wrong I LOVE to sleep - and can sleep at the drop of a hat - but I'd rather sleep the extra 20-30 minutes in the morning than be woken up every 10 by the snoozer). Gracie fusses around 6:30 and I go in to see her standing in crib nearest her bedroom door and ready to hand me her "night-night" blankets (all 3 of them). I bring her back into our bed where she cuddles with Todd while I get her morning milk ready. We turn on some cartoons and she drinks her milk in our bed while I try to close my eyes for a little bit longer. Todd hops in the shower. After she's done with her milk - she's running around bringing toys or movies back to our room. Once Todd is getting his coffee and breakfast, Gracie and I venture out to the family room where she plays and watches movies while I check email, Facebook, and blogs!
So this morning, I had to giggle when I looked over to see her sitting like this:

It's Potty Time!
Yep, Gracie peed for the 1st time in her little potty. Last week, before she got into her duck tub (which sits in the big tub) she was standing in the tub and she just had that look like she needed to go. So, I said to her - do you need to pee-pee? And sure enough, she did need to go and she went...and she knew exactly what she was doing because she did it 2 more times when we asked her if she needed to go more before getting in the tub. We're so excited that she gets the concept! While, we're not expecting anything consistent (she'll be 20 months old in 4 days), we're very proud of her! Here's to the start of successful potty training.

Ough Noooo!
Our "Little Bit", as Todd's dad calls her, is sick. She didn't sleep well Saturday night and had a really rough day on Sunday. She had us worried because she refused to eat or drink anything after mid-morning on Sunday. By Sunday evening she was miserable; crying and hadn't had a wet diaper since the morning. Poor Baby!!! She finally fell asleep on Todd around 8 pm. We put her in her crib around 9 and she slept until 2 am. I was glad she woke up because I forced some tylenol and finally got her to take some sprite out of a medicine dropper....after a while she was signing and asking for "more"! YAY!!! She ended up drinking 8 oz of sprite and I was so relieved! She really perked up....I'm sure she was dehydrated! Poor Baby! She's doing much better today....still has a low-grade fever, runny nose and cough but has been eating and drinking and is talkative and playful!
She had a blast this morning playing with Todd's coffee beans (which are now HER beans because she coughed all over them - you'll see in the video). I was so happy to see her playful again.
I guess I say "Oh no" whenever she drops something or if something goes wrong...and my little mini-me has started saying her own version of "ough noooo"! It's so cute and I giggle every time I hear her say it. She also says "I clen" for - I clean - after she spills something. My little apple did not fall far from the tree.
I'm so glad I got these words on video...it's a long clip (but probably not long enough for the grandparents). Listen for her sweet little voice and her yucky cough. I hope you enjoy watching her as much as we do.
