John to the Rescue

Last Wednesday it snowed all day! We got about a foot and, for some reason, our snowplow contractor didn't come by to plow our long driveway. I called Todd that evening before he left work to tell him I was a little concerned that he wouldn't be able to drive into the garage because of the accumulation from the day and the drifts from the wind. I asked him if he wanted me to call to have the plow come by and he said not to - that worst case scenario, he'd park on the lane to our house and walk down.

Well...I should have known! Boys will be boys!!!

I was giving Gracie a bath when Todd walked through the garage door and had snow all over pants. He said, "well, I got stuck!" To which I responded, "What?". He said he wanted to see how far he could get the car down the drive...ugh, really!!! So then he said, "I'm going to go shovel". And I'm thinking, yeah right - good luck with that! Our driveway is really long and it would take him hours to shovel all that snow. Oh well, I thought, serves him right for "trying" to drive through more than a foot of snow.

Before Todd got all his snow gear on...our wonderful neighbor and friend, John, saw that Todd got stuck! Without us even asking, he was already in our driveway with his tractor and snow blower plowing us out!!! YAY!!! And since boys have to be boys...Todd had to give the tractor a try.

Todd looks the part with his work shirt half tucked!

A cold beer and heavy machinery!

Bundled up after her bath to check out the tractor!

All in a hard day's work!

Cabin Fever

Little bit still doesn't like to wear clothes when we're at home....thank goodness she keeps her diaper on and she will let us get her dressed if we're going out.

Otherwise - we have Cabin Fever pretty bad around here. So what are some of the symptoms of Cabin Fever at our house.

1. Random selection of clothes - like a raincoat and winter hat.

2. A swimming pool in the bathroom!
Hey!!! If you can't be outside...why not bring the outdoors in!

Happy Birthday Grape

We've called Todd's Dad, Granddaddy, since Gracie was born but Gracie has changed it to "Grape"... and we think it might stick. I love that she has come with her OWN name for him.

We wanted to wish Grape a very

Happy
Birthday!

We love and miss you very much!

Another Favorite

Gracie used to love when we would read her book after book before bedtime and we loved it too...our nightly favorites were..."Little Blue Truck Leads the Way", "Chugga Chugga Choo Choo", "The Big Night Night Book", and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

Lately, however, she hasn't wanted us to read to her; instead, she's just been ready for us to put her down to bed....

But tonight she wanted ONE book in particular. She wouldn't let Todd take it away when he laid her down. So when I went in to check her for the last time before going to bed myself...I smiled and called Todd in to see our sweet, sleeping girl with this book in her hand!

So what book is it???
I'll tell you soon!

But there may be some of you out there that don't know an important piece of information that makes this picture even sweeter!

So for those of you who haven't seen our Christmas and Best of 2009 montages - we're thrilled to announce that Gracie is going to be a...

BIG Sister!!!

We found out on Christmas morning that we're expecting Baby #2 over Labor Day Weekend!!!

So...what book could she
NOT let go of before going to sleep?

"Baby Names"

I mean seriously....how cute is that!!!!
Maybe she's excited about being a big sister.

Playroom

I'm all about toys but I don't love them ALL over my house. The solution - a PLAYROOM!!!

Well, Gracie's playroom has been a work in progress for several months (since October to be exact). This weekend it finally all came together. Other than the room being a little tight for space and I'd like to add a chalkboard to the right of the grocery store...I'm really happy with how it has turned out and Gracie seems to really like it too.

Lazy Sunday

Gracie took a nap with me on Sunday afternoon ...and I loved every minute of it. After she woke up she enjoyed some Teddy Grahams and lemonade in bed...there's nothing better than relaxing and cuddling with the ones you love.

Wellies and Necklaces

I was trying to get ready us to go to a morning coffee/playgroup on Friday and the only way I could get ready was to let Gracie get herself ready too. She decided on her Hatton Dog Wellington Boots (or Wellies) and wanted to accessorize with lots and lots of necklaces! Who needs clothes, really!

It took me 20 minutes to get everything put back into my jewelry box. Oh the things I let her do to give me some "me time"!
